Raw linen can sit up and shine a little, like a shop window. We prefer cloth that already knows how to be a bed, a table, a window.
A matte hand and a rumple that will not iron into something it is not — that is the argument for finishing the fibre properly, rather than leaving the first night to you.
If you wash at home: cold, gentle, no softener. Line dry if you can. The cloth will keep loosening, then settle into the particular map of your rooms.
